Army tries to lure students

An Phoblacht/Republican News · Thursday 11 October 2001

West Tyrone Assembly member Barry McElduff has hit out at the University of Ulster for allowing the British Army's Officer Training Corps (OTC) to recruit at the university's Freshers' Day.

Detailing a number of complaints from students, McElduff said:

"It is an affront that the British military are actively trying to recruit people at a time when they should be demilitarising their forces in Ireland."

An Phoblacht has been told that representatives from the Students' Union are demanding a meeting with university authorities following student complaints.
