Subject: philosophy apparently sucks

There is much to debate.... and that we have this wonderful forum to freely express our views without having to do more than get out off our sofas..... where the hell is everyone? Does god exist? Does "a" god exist? Was religion just another means used to control an uneducated population? Let us debate faith versus reason. Is there such a thing as the soul, as intuition, as instinct in the human being? Do we need to be governed? Tell me of your thoughts on Ayn Rand... tell me of that fooler of fools John Ralston Saul. Is the good of the whole more important than the good of the one? Where do you get a reference point to even answer such a bizzare question? Am I the one or merely part of the whole? There is a fundemtal paradox to our existence and I don't see it talked about anywhere!: Either existence has always existed... in some form or another, or existence came into being.... from nothing. Both possibilities seem impossible, yet they are the only possible options as we understand reality so far, and at the essence of our existence here, now. This defines who we are now, and what we do now. Knowing that our sun will die and our planet will cease to exist and that we may have withib us the ability to choose to live beyond that.... why are we not thinking about this now? Tree huggers, echoterrorist and greenpeacers aside, if we know that the planet we live upon has a finite existence.... HEY!!! ANY THOUGHTS!!
