>I had bulbar polio in 1956. I had a 16 inches span between my feet with my knees together. I wore corrective shoes until age 16. This brought my feet within two inches of each other. I know notice the spread is coming back. I now have a spread of 4 inches. I have also notice my arms are also curving. They have been measured at a 70% angle. I also been diagnosis with COPD. I have trouble going up down stairs. The bigs problem is to get my HMO insurance to pay for treatment with a doctor who knows what post polio and to pay for additional equipment. They refused to pay for orthothics because it was not medical necessary. The will only pay 20 PT session because polio has been limited. I not sure what the future holds as my body changes. I know I will not have any surgeries to straight the body parts. I just do not what my children and grandkids fill they will have to take care of me. My biggest fear is not being able to take care of myself.
