I though LOTR followed the book very well... and was probably the best adaptation of a book that I have ever seen. They left out parts, yes, (Tom Bombadil) but nothing that effected the storyline..and they left it out completely and cleanly..without little tags of information later on in the script about the left out parts.

I too, cannot wait for The Two Towers.. previews look great...

Dead livestock..yes... but it is really ridiculous... that is what makes it so funny.
Ah well.. I suppose it depends on your tastes... I grew up on British humor...so it all seems normal to me.
