Seven.. Well the trotting around thing is not such a big deal.. it sounds like he's excited.. and for good reason. It's a new spot.. new horses.. new things to see... he wants to see them! Also.. he might be trying to play. In anycase.. just stand there and don't follow him. He is bound to get curious and come over eventually.
Ah.. the ol' ears.. Hm. If he is just ear-shy it may take a while to get him to trust you.. you'll have to gradually work at it. But then.. some horses just never like their ears touched.
