Tension is great, to some extent, but it can get too personal. I personally enjoy a bit of tension, and purposefully join 'instigator' characters specifically to create tension. However, fights can get too personal, with characters going out of their way to be mean, and that's where I usually draw the line between enjoyable tension and personal attacks. The problem is, most people don't learn to separate the player and the character, and so take most attacks personally. I don't. Most do, however, and that is simply human nature. From a Guardian's standpoint, you're not here to babysit them and tell them to all play nicely, you're to make sure no one really gets hurt. The main thing to watch for is bands of 'bullies', i.e. those strong-personality-types that tend to congeal under a leader and can get quite mean. That is rare, but not cool when it happens. It seems, from what I've seen--and, granted, I don't know much about it, nor have I looked into it--some people are getting their feelings bruised because of it, and though direct interference is not necessarily appropriate, I think the situation should be managed somehow, only because I hate unhappy people and want to make sure everyone is having fun, at least *most* of the time... Sorry if this rambles or doesn't come out right, I am kinda thinking out loud, which is probably not advisable considering the type of things that come from *my* brain.. hehe.. :)
