Thanks for all your input and advice, Dennis. I want to do what's best for him, just not always sure how to always go about it...and certainly don't want to make any catastrophic mistakes. Incidentally, I did try the black walnuts and Alder made a beeline (even passing up the dog kibble he likes so much) for it. He hasn't touched the lichen yet, but we'll see. I must have a unique little guy, indeed! I can't wait until winter when I can spend more time with him!
