He needs dark green veggies along with what you are
feeding. Romaine lettuce, broccoli, etc. for the
calcium and Vitamin D2 they contain. Red cherry
tomatoes are good for them also. He will need hard
shelled nuts to keep his teeth worn down. Pecans
and acorns are not hard enough. I feed a few raw
peanuts also. I keep a cuttle bone, calcium block,
and mineral spool in the cages. If it is good quality,
the dog food won't hurt him but monkey chow is better.
A little liquid multi-vitamin, for rodents, added to the
water once a week or so is also good for them. Meal
worms, wax worms, crickets, grasshoppers, etc. are very
well liked by most flying squirrels and a good source
of protein.
I don't know if there is anything definite one way or
the other on Avocado pits. If unsure don't feed them.
BTW, Never heard of ground cherries. What are they?
