I have had to trim my chipmunks teeth more than once, I use fingernail clippers that look like pliers. I have a helper put a wood popsicle stick behind the teeth like a horse bit, this keeps me from accidentally clipping chippy's tongue.

The first time I did it it really freaked me out because I did not know how chippy would react, but she was fine, other than being annoyed at the temporary restraint.

It is normal for some movement in the lower teeth, they can appear to slightly spread sometimes.
