I've never personally heard of any allergic reactions
in flyers, but, I guess it is not impossible to happen.
Most times there is fur loss as you note it is from the
fur getting rubbed off on something they go through or
in and out of. Or, it is the twice yearly molt when all
their fur is replaced gradually.
I would think it would affect a much larger or different
area if it was an allergy.
