Just lift the cage part out of the bottom plastic pan, it's not fastened- it just sits in there. The plastic bottom pan (made from a 55-gal. drum) is very easy to clean, nothing will stick to it. I made the sides of the bottom pan about a foot high so the bedding won't get out and to keep the cage from shifting in the pan. It has about 4" of bedding inside. The top cover is easily removable also, it just sits on top of the cage. There is no cage wire on the top or bottom, just on the sides.
