Subject: Your Baby Flyer will need a lot from you!
In reply to: Dennis 's message, "Re: Is There Something wrong" on 20:02:39 12/22/08 Mon

Dennis is most likely correct--some sellers catch wild babies and pass them off as hand-tamed; or she could just be scared to death--all new smells at your home. Any dogs or cats inside with her? What is important right now is that you have lots of time, patience, and love with this baby and she WILL eventually come around. Hey, they all bite sometimes, so just bear with that for now. Try to monitor her eating and drinking--don't want her to dehydrate; it's good that you know she likes the apples and seeds. My young ones always like red grapes, too--but peel the skin off anything right now, since apple skin or grape skin can choke a young one. Another good way to bond is to carry her inside your shirt when you are inside in a flyer-proof area (remember, they can hide in VERY small spots and you will have a time finding her). A bathroom makes a good beginning room--with the toilet lid down securely and no holes where she can crawl inside the walls. When you are working with her, have a piece of pecan or walnut (shelled, of course) in your hand and work to get her to come and take it. You could also use a pouch for carrying, if you can get her used to it. It's important that she learn your scent and feel safe with it. Good Luck! How old is she? And, where did get her? Keep us posted!
