Your kind words will help; and you are right--they get into our heads and hearts so the pain is pretty stiff for awhile. Your thoughts on the age we acquire them and whether they were shirt buddies or not is an interesting theory, too. I immediately thought of the ones Ags has that are 14 years old--twice as old as Zoe WP. Then, I also thought of how many seem to die around 6 or 7 years of age; and I wondered why? What do we miss? As you said, Zoe was well cared for, ate a better diet than most humans, had everything cleaned daily (I am a bit neurotic on that note); and was loved beyond belief! Because I have an inside and outside aviary for them, she had the best of both worlds. She will always be in my heart.
