Subject: Help! Ant infestation!

Help! I discovered an ant trail leading from a leaky kitchen door STRAIGHT to Goofus' food dish! There are literally hundreds of ants on and around his food and cage. I feel really sorry for him, and it's rather disturbing looking...
How can I get rid of them without completely stopping feeding the squirrel, and without toxic sprays? I've already put down ant bait type traps near the door, but they are ignoring them, and they've been down 4 days and there are more ants now, not fewer.
