It is peaceful, with no fighting, no evils, and what she enjoys most: no bickering adults. She walks to a shallow part of the stream and steps into it. She eases gently to her knees to think until her friends arrive to play. My mother and father are both gone... and I don't know where they went. Her eyes are troubled, but that is the extent of her outward emotion. She was slowly developing a habit of hiding it, for it could do more harm than good. She lowers her head and takes a sip of the cool water, still pondering her situation. What should I do? I would be all right here on my own, I guess... but I don't want to leave Star.
