Hello! You say you would like a mental challenge? Here it goes.

John had a horse breeding farm! He had 35 horses all together! He had 15 studs and 15 broodmaares! His friend had a horse ranch too! He had 12 broodmares and 11 studs giving him a total of 23 horses! How many horses must have been pets and not breeding stock?
