In reply to: Joe Maniaci 's message, "Headlamp adjustment screw/locator clip availability" on 18:49:30 11/27/01 Tue

I think you are referring to the small flat metal clip that grips the end of a plastic stand-off post that connects the lens housing to the headlamp frame. I lost the same clip.

I encourage you to remove your wheel well cover on that side and explore the area under the lamp housing. I found my clip sitting there in a corner on top of the air dam, even though it had fallen off days before. I proceded to lose the clip later. :-(

Bad news...the part does not appear to be available. The 928 parts manual only shows the whole headlamp assembly, as 928 Intl indicated. Obviously SOMEBODY made this part for Porsche (maybe Bosche), but I couldn't find a source. I thought about taking a short trip to the nearest German car dismatler, but they would probably want to sell the whole assembly like 928 Intl uinless they have a broken junker from which I could strip the part.

Anyway, I made a clip using a ACCO document clip as a source for the spring metal, cutting out a rough facsimile with my Dremmel. So far, so good.

If the clip is not hiding in your heel well, you might see if a foreign car junk yard nearby might have some broken headlamps you could scavenge.
