Subject: What's up with my washer system?

I'm taking advantage of the new board to ask this. I saw some recent posts about the windshield washer system and got into mine to see why so little water was being squirted out when I pull the lever. Popped open the covers, unhooked the nozzles, and to my confusion discoved one (1) piece of hoze connecting from each nozzle right to the reservoir--no check valves, no T-fittings. So...guess the question is, were some cars sold this way or did the PO just want to "simplify" the system. In case of the latter, if I fill up the intensive washer reservoir and press the button, am I spraying the inside of the engine compartment with the stuff? Either way, as 928 Intl. sells all the parts I should just be able to buy the right fittings and some length of the right size hose and put it all back together...right?
