Subject: Questions about engine in '86.5 928

Hi,
I finally purchased a 86.5 928 and have some (unfortunately rather ignorant) question about the engine, which empirically looks very different from those in some earlier and later MYs I looked at. On the top of engine are these eight flexible rubber hose clamp connections (employing 16 hose clamps - is this a relatively "uncommon" feature or just one immediately visible/obvious on this car. Now the practical question: at least one of these rubber hose connections appears to be somewhat deteriorated (not
cracked through but definitely showing its age). What
are the symptons to be expected when these seals degrade/fail and where is the best place to buy new ones?
I'm assuming/hoping this is something I can do myself.
BTW the car does run extremely smoothly - I just want
to keep it that way...
Thanks, Tim
