Just wanted to add my .02 on proactive measures.

1. Clean all ground points and connectors.

As our cars age the wires as well as the points at which they are connected get corroded. When the ground point get dirty the resistance gets higher and things just don't want to work as they should and you will also see the positive sides taking the brunt of this problem by means of added heat at the connections.

2. Check and clean positive connection at battery, starter and the two under the hood connections.

Same as above. I believe many of our 928's suffer from the dirty contact syndrome, so play it smart and get them before they get you!

3. Check fit of all fuses.

If you have been having problems with things like interior lights, locks, alarm, fans, etc. working intermittently or not at all. After you have done the above, check the fuses for proper fit. You should not be able to pull any of the fuses out by means of your fingertips! If you can then the fuse block for these five fuses has been either heat damaged or damaged by some exterior force.

4. Clean all sensor contacts and connectors under the hood.

Unlike the old days were the sensors purpose was to drive dash lights and gauges, the sensors on our 928's are a vital part of communications between the motor and the two main brains (LH, EZK). Think of it as data entry, trash in trash out!

5. Check "all" vacuum lines for a tight fit.

Heat and age is the nemesis of rubber. These small diameter lines are one of the first to show the affects. Some will split in places you can't see or swell on the connector and look like they are doing their job but in fact the motor will be sucking air around it.

6. Remove air-filter housing and check and tighten MAS boot clamps and check crank case vent hoses for proper fit.

If either of these items are allowing air to sucked in the intake without passing though the MAS all sorts of problem can occur. Rough or rolling idle, inability to idle, loss of power etc.

HTH

Cheers
