Subject: How difficult is it to change out synchros and transmission bearings?

I'm going to pull my transaxle in the not too distant future and either have the sacrificial parts replaced, or just exchange it for a rebuilt unit. Anyone have any experience popping the old parts out and putting the new ones back in, do you have to have an aircraft engineering degree, or can the slightly above average shadetree do it??
