my car had three sources of head light problems,
-key position, the position of the key, i'd rotate the key back counterclockwise about 10 degrees to get the head lights and power windows to work, this is a pretty common problem
-the control knob/switch and the fuses, I'd be driving along and the lights would quit, I cleaned all the connections on the head light switch, this was a few hours because that switch is a pain in the ass to get at. After I did that, it still happenned actually it got alot worse, the headlight hardly ever worked, finally I played with the switch while gazing at the fuses, I think there's three that are associated with the headlights, there was one that arching occasionally, cleaned and bent the connectors on the board, the headlights worked perfectly after that.
