Subject: HELLO DEAR FRIENDS, MY '89 AND I HAVE SOMEHOW SURVIVED GROUND ZERO

Dear All,
I am sure I am unrecognized by most of you but I am a long term 928S4 owner, (132,000 on the clock of mixed daily manhattan driving and racing at Porsche club events locally (Metro member). I have tried to give as much advice as I could before 9/11 to all of you in these boards, as my best friend owns the Porsche dealer in Manhattan and I Love, cherish my '89 S4, and keep my 'baby' "right".

Bumped up valve timing, removed rear muffler to single 4" tip, great rubber.......and proper maintenance.

One of the few 'healthy' remaining 928's around these parts. as they say in the inner city...."I represent....."

Anyhow, I live 300 yards from the base of ground zero.

300 yards.

I was awaken at the first plane crashing into the tower, and was ordered to vacate the building. I face due west, so I couldnt see the tower from my view, I face the Hudson.

Anyway, I wont bore you all with the gorey and traumatic details, but I thought you would appreciate the following little tidbit:
The gov't had NO MANDATED clean-up of residential buildings and performed ZERO RESIDENTIAL CLEAN TO DATE, however, and interestingly, all the cars that were either damaged by the collapse and terrorism, OR PARKED AND LOCKED ON THE STREET And in the parking lots- indoor and out, were mysteriously towed away to an unknown destination, never to return. PORSCHES, TURBO 993'S TURBO 996'S, BENTLEY'S AND SO ON AND SO ON. (I am sure they "destroyed them...RIGHT.....HA)

It was found out later that they consideredthe cars a total loss due to toxic contamination. It didn't mean s--t to them that we breathed it 24/7, our children our neighbors, you get the idea...............

but they took all those cars, EXCEPT ......THEY DIDNT GET MY '89 928S4, Parked and locked THREE FLOORS UNDERGROUND, 300 yards from the wtc, IN MY SPOT.

THE GARAGE MANAGER WOULDNT LET THEM.

When they finally began to even LET US in, was october 25, under guard of the police, national guard, fbi, coast guard.

Mind you they has been cleaning the area for two months already. And all the cars in the indoor lot had been towed away except for a mere few.

I was finally allowed to remove my poor but alive '89 which looked like any car you all saw on T.V. except it was NOT DAMAGED, except from the 'dust', which I wont tell you what that 'DUST' has been found to be made up of....
SHE STARTED right up...(remember fellow 928'ers, change that Battery every 3 years! PREVENTITVE MAINTENANCE AS THEY SAY.)

I gave it many kisses, drove her out, with everyone gaping at and staring at my war survived Porsche, covered in 'Dust" all giving me thumbs up, even cheers by the NYPD and NYFD guys here........ as she survived, as did I .

Incdentally, When the first tower gave way, I was engulfed in the debris and got 2 firemen, my then girlfriend and about 25 people into a work boat docked in the river next to mt building.

In all the photos, you can see my building, and is the first one in front of the WTC, on the river, just to the South of the Towers.

Anyway, just thought that you'd like to here.

I AM ALIVE AND SHE IS ONE OF ONLY 100 OR 200 CARS THAT SURVIVED THE ENTIRE AREA.

Glad to be back,

Seth Bennett (Setan928@earthlink.net)
