Subject: 928 s2 steering rack problems, HELP

Hi looking for some advice here,
I thought I had some play in the front wheels and was worried that it would be the top balljoint.. new A arms ...but on inspection the balljoint is Ok, one wheel bearing has some slight play, have gently tightened that, but relatively easy to replace when necessary. The movenent is in the steering, not the tie rod outer, or inner joints, not the rack mountings, but the rack ahaft itself inside the rack housing seems to be moving up and down as load applied to the wheels, when the car is jacked up,
I took rack gaiter off to check, the rack bar, the bit with the teeth on moves vertically. So my question, are there any bearings between the rack housing and rack itself (not the shaft to the steering wheel,) if so are they a, available, and b, easy to replace.
thanks for any advice
