Subject: Engine cuts out

Recently acquired '85S auto (16V Aust). Previous owner comments "anti-theft system unimpressive, ? works". Ran perfectly though, great car but will occasionally, without warning, cut out while running (cold or warm, accelerating / cruise / decelerating) will easily restart if I drop into neutral. Checked alarm module, wiring OK but box suspicious (failed all tests per owners manual(CD rom version!). Does anyone know where the Z connector is to bypass the box (my central electrical panel only goes up to W!)? Do you think this may be what the factory cryptic comment could imply?
