Subject: What kind of 'additive do you mean
In reply to: John C Henry 's message, "Injectors: does typical additive hurt system" on 11:33:15 12/15/02 Sun

Dear JH,

Is the new buyer having any trouble with the car?

Generally a fuel additive, if name brand, shouldn't hurt the car, like a high quality cleaner or Octane inhancer.

I would NOT recommend ANY Oil additives.

One should understand that once an Engine has 'seen' a Synthetic Oil, they should continue to only use Synthetic.

The Molecular structure of Synthetic or Synthetic blends are such that once you use such Oil, it is better for the Bearings and Engine to not go back to 'Normal' Oil.

Going from Synthetic or Blended Oil back to non-Synthetic Oil can cause Engine, or insufficient lubrication failure. A fact told to me by Porsche.

If one chooses to use a gas additive to 'clean' the Fuel Injection system, one must first ask is there anything that seems wrong?

Generally, the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", applies strongly here and to any Porsche.

Anyone that buys a 'new', clean, well running 928, and starts to add 'stuff', modify (Porsche knows what they are doing), or 'MAKE BETTER', is probably buying the wrong car, and should be advised as such.

If your old car runs O.K., then tell the new buyer to leave it alone and love it.

Drive it, show it off, have fun......but LEAVE IT ALONE.

-seth
