Subject: Stock Trading Game

Unsolicited Advice from a Non-Licensed Stock
Broker

The title just oozes confidence so let's get it
out in the open...I am a student to the stock market so any advice or
commentary you read from here on in is worthless bunk and crapola. However,
being a student I've scoured the internet for hours on end and have
read my fair share of books from stocks, bonds, funds, and everything in
between. I've read gimmicky "sure fire" methods of day trading and have taken
NAIC based classes on longer term growth securities. Not to put the NAIC
techniques in with the get rich quick folks, I actually found a lot of good
information in that class. But none of the stock trading styles quite fit me.
I'm neither a longer-term slow growth guy nor an over-night get rich
fella. I want to actively trade my stocks and take ownership of my portfolio
because I truly believe I can, eventually, manage it better than anyone
else. My brother-in-law is a stock broker so if you're reading this…sorry.

*shameless plug for him* if you
would really rather have an experienced adviser manage your funds for you talk
with Grant Kerger @

Peregrine Asset Adviser
.

The one thing I did find through my search is more
market data than I could ever shake a stick at [even if I was a full-time stick
shaker committed to my craft]. And that's without paying a dime. If I wasn't so
cheap I could actually tap into a whole world of stock and market knowledge
that I never knew I needed. But even with that wealth of information I still
didn't know how to trade a stock successfully. Its nigh impossible to find a
book, site, or publishing on encouraging the beginner to actually learn about
the market without some sales scheme baked into the publishing.

Learn…understand…grok the market [any Heinlein
fans]. I'm still an admitted newbie on the subject. A subject as big as
the stock market, I don't know if I'll ever leave remedial broker 101. But I
also know there are a lot of fellow 101'ers out there, too. Not people who are
looking for get rich quick scheme but people who are trying to understand how
to make money from the market based on the facts and the true nature of the
market. For those stock market students, myself included, I have put together a
site that focuses on this spirit of learning. It's called

BrokerStars
.

The premise is simple: get a group of people
together who are all students of the stock market. Give them an environment to
explore, ask questions, relate experiences, and the opportunity to totally
screw up on our trades on our own without actually losing money. Trade real
stocks using real data but with fake cash. That's where the BrokerStar Bucks
come in. Here's what you do:

  1. Go to
    BrokerStars
    .

  2. Enroll yourself into the site
    here
    .

  3. Once enrolled,
    login
    .

  4. Join a
    stock trading match
    .

  5. Start building your portfolio.

The match environment gives you the opportunity to
check in on fellow players who started with the same amount of B.S. Bucks as
you. You can track their portfolios and trade stock tips with each other in the

BrokerStar Forum
.

If you would like to read a little more on the
how's and why's check out the

BrokerStar Help
.

This is a free service. You won't
be asked for your credit card (or any other form of payment). This is your
haven to make mistakes. Take as many do-overs as you like. All I ask is that
when you learn something you then turn around and add that knowledge to the
site in the forums so someone else can learn it as well.

If you have any comments (both good and bad) feel
free to contact me.
