Subject: Next Tue. is the trade deadline

I want da Bears to at least try to trade for Jared Allen. Julius Peppers is past his prime & is owed nearly $40M over the next 2 years. They could restructure but that would require an extension. Even if they could reduce his pay by 50% (not likely) he's not worth it, imo.

Allen has a $17M cap number this year while Pepper's '14 number is over $18M. Cutting him now puts about $2M in the bank immediately & $26M over the next 2 years. (leaving about $12.5M in dead money)I'm sure Allen knows he's signed his last mega-deal so $28M for 2 years, especially if most of it is guaranteed, could be enough.
