I'd am looking to move us into the 21st century and am considering a free forum community service called ProBoards. I really want to get away from this forum and the lack of support we receive, not to mention the limited functionality we have.

ProBoards offers a number of features. Click here to see the features they offer. Be sure to click on the View the Full Feature List link at the bottom to see a full summary of the features available.

The "tree" format would be no more. Instead, we'd have categories to choose to post in. I'd envision setting up at least 3-4 categories. Such as, Football; Other Sports; and Other Topics with a Politics sub-category. There would no longer be a need for two separate forums.

Having frequented a message board community very similar to ProBoards over the past 3-4 years, I can tell you that it is easy to use and the format is great. Once you get used to it, I think all of you would agree that it is a much preferred format. You can check out the one I frequent by clicking here. You don't have to sign up just to check it out, but you won't be able to post there without signing up. Anyway, this particular forum isn't free which is why I'm not considering using them. I don't mind ads and if a few ads is the price to pay for a free forum, I'm good with that.

At any rate, I'm going to set up a forum with ProBoards over these next few days. Once it's ready, I'll let you guys know and, if we like it, we'll make a permanent move. I'd leave this place open to catch any infrequent posters that aren't aware of the move so they can find us.

If nothing else, the outages we've experienced here over the past couple weeks is enough for me to want to find a new home.
