I guess anything is a competition anymore.

I read the ranking criteria. Ratings & revenue take a back seat to diversity, flavor, courage, effort & several other meaningless, feel-good adjectives. Jim Rome is an ass. Always has been. I'm surprised several of his guests haven't kicked his ass during the show.

But the first three months of "Rome" have been filled with ratings pratfalls and very limited distribution growth. In particular Rome's CBS audience is not even 1/10th of his ESPN audience.

In 2011 Rome Is Burning averaged 442,000 daily viewers on ESPN and ESPN2. According to multiple sources, Rome on CBS is averaging barely 40,000 daily viewers. That's a smaller audience than the local news in Buffalo.

Mike & Mike, #7?

Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic of 1050 had a different victory.

Their show is just 20th overall (morning talk in NYC), averaging 2.1% of the audience. But among men 25-54, the group 1050 sells to advertisers, Mike and Mike averaged 5.6%.

Mike Greenberg is a limp-wristed momma's boy. If he ever participated in any sport, it was as the ball boy. How he got a sports-talk show is a complete mystery.
