Subject: Cons lose Waters for the year

Probably forever.

The surprisingly effective offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys is down a man.

Team owner Jerry Jones announced Tuesday, on his weekly radio program, that Brian Waters will miss the rest of the season with a triceps injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.

The 36-year-old guard also suffered knee and rib injuries against Detroit, but Jones said the Cowboys believed the triceps setback was most significant. The absence of Waters thrusts Mackenzy Bernadeau into action at right guard. The loss is a depth-killer, but Jones expressed faith in Bernadeau.

"(He) started for us the entire year last year and played well, came in and played about 20 snaps and played well yesterday," Jones told KRLD-FM, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Then, we'll look to what we do with depth off our practice squad."

This probably is it for Waters. He sat out last season and remained on his couch until Dallas signed him in September. The six-time Pro Bowl selection spent 11 years anchoring offensive lines for the Kansas City Chiefs and played well in 2011 for the New England Patriots.

He'll be missed in Big D.
