 CNN Entertainment News is reporting that Sanrio has decided to retire the Hello Kitty franchise after more than 25 succesful years of business. All Sanrio stores will permanently close in the US on December 20th, 2002, and all shipments of Hello Kitty merchandise to US retailers will cease on the same day.
