I have received several emails this morning inquiring as to the status of our online friends in NY. I am in upstate and not the city, but there have still been precautionary measures taken here. Schools have been closed and the state capitol has been evacuated. My place of business shut down around 11am due to its close proximity to the state capitol. Some of the less critical patients in NYC are going to be brought to Albany and we were asked to give blood before leaving work today....a mobile station was parked right outside...which I did.

I have heard from PSD...but am still concerned about Jason....have been trying to call both his cell and his home #...and sent an email earlier...but have not managed to make contact yet. Communications are not the best in NYC at the moment and I cannot connect to either of his phones.

Jason...please let us know that you're ok. And Rock Hard Headed and NYCop are also in NYC...hope they are both well and safe.

My prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy....I believe the newscasters who say over and over again that "Life as we know it...will never be the same".

frist and foremost, thoughts with those so impacted by this inane and insane set of acts today.

decency and innocence ... lost in an instant, senseless and just plain cruel. humans did this?

and what now... seek out and have retribution? one up or get even? it is so sad, for terrorist acts such as these, simply wrench the spirals of hatred and communication further and further apart between people on this earth.

Even though we live in Arizona, we are still being affected by the disaster in NYC. The entire city has shut down including a major telecommunications carrier that was centralised in the WTC.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families in hopes that their loved ones are safe.

Absolutely horrible, senseless attack on innocents!!

Glad to know you are all okay especially the ones in NYC ... PSD and jason!! ...

Been praying a lot today for the grieving loved ones of people killed; for the people living in NYC and Washington, Virgina, who might be living in fear of another attack! For those in this country who fear just because terrorism brings on that helpless terror of heart and mind; and for those who react by anger, that they would not take any undue action in their rage!

Praying for those who are in the helping* professions in the affected sites of attacks: firemen, doctors, nurses, paramedics, adminnistrators, and any others who are taxed and overburdened at this time of trauma.
Praying for the individual government leaders of the cities involved: mayors, law enforcement officials.

Praying for our government leaders: President Bush, cabinet, advisors, Gen. Powell, for Godly wisdom and decision-making on behalf of us all, in the weeks to come.

Praying for the armed forces this great country has, that all soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, etc. are kept safe and alert so that our* boundaries are safe from the infringements of enemies!

Praying that all* the parties responsible for the attacks on our country are identified without question and soon, so we can obtain justice for the lives senselessly slaughtered, and can tell the world that the United States of America is a free country, yes, but it is not a country of wimps who will lie down when attacked!!!

Be well all! Today, we were stunnned and are saddened by an attack within our borders. I pray this act of war against the US will only heighten our patriotism and draw us all closer together in the coming weeks and months ahead!!

I agree babyblue...retribution is not just an option to us....it is vital. To sit back and do nothing would mean that we condone this sort of behavior. And I don't even want to hear anything from those wimps who believe we should be passive on this and simply "pray". What good is being the world's only superpower if we can't use that to protect our own turf? We must make an example of these people....if only to show the world that this is NOT acceptable behavior and that you cannot hide behind religion and murder tens of thousands of innocent civilians.

Pearl Harbor? This was no Pearl Harbor....that was military against military.....narrowly inside the boundaries of the rules of warfare. This was a slaughter perpetrated by demons of hell hiding under the guise of Allah.

The twin towers were, indeed, a sight to behold, psd. I always enjoyed the skyline of the city and still find it difficult to believe that something which took so many hours to construct could be the site of such utter destruction and devastation. And it's funny you should mention how proud you are of New Yorkers. As you know...I'm a transplant and since I moved here....going on six years now...so many people have asked why in the WORLD I would've wanted to relocate to New York. New Yorkers have a reputation as being aggressive....pushy....and rude. I believe that all this is true upon occasion....but there is one thing about New Yorkers that the world is only learning now...and that is their ability to pull together in times of crisis and their compassion for their fellow man. Today I am, indeed, proud to be a New Yorker.

So right about the resillency of New Yorkers, the amazing dedication and heroics of the fireman, police, emergency teams, and the countless volunteers. And the rest of the country ain't doing bad either.
Despite our many diversities, we are still the greatest country, others have tried to surpass us and even topple us but we survive.... stronger and more committed than ever, whereas they have ebbed and flowed in their quest for dominance and world leadership.
Can't help thinking...and although it has been said countless times... So Proud to be an American.

Thank you trish for the valued info. also good to hear from PSD, Leggy and others..

I believe that America MUST take whatever action is necessary to bring the guilty to justice and we must show our united support.

I say this, because of what I have seen in Central America.
Many of my relatives lived there under tension, the threat of war, the loss of life, and this was the daily norm. When I last visited, I saw Militia everywhere, machines guns carried by many, and fear in the eyes of all. I have family members who were kidnapped, tortured and killed. My entire family lived in grief for years at the horrors during those wars. And those of us who reside in the United States, do so with pride, honor and great love for this country.

Being a native San Franciscan, I have always experienced a great rapor with New Yorker .perhaps, it's been the sharing of the kindred spirit unique to those that thrive on citylife.

In my business dealings I have held NY'rs in uppermost esteem, enjoying the ability to be direct, decisive, spirited, and bold. New Yorkers have shown the world their dignified strength, unity, and unequaled grace under pressure during America's worst moment; as have those in Wash. DC and Pa. I am proud to be an American.

Lsst nite I found myself at church. The church is huge and was packed, and many were in tears. I found comfort in sharing my grief. Unity was the powerful message.

I also agree however, that this is the time to take action. Action in a personal way, by extending ourselves, not limited to only donating blood, but giving of our funds, and all other contributions that will be necessary, for food, clothing and anything else that can help the victims families and loved ones.

In addition, we as proud Americans MUST stand up against terrorism. Zero tolerance must be adopted by the free world. And in time, not only as a nation, but within each person. May we each find a way to stand up and show our active support in the war against terrorism. We are so blessed to live in this great free country.

On another note, I have been on chat, and have been dismayed by some anti-American statements by fellow Americans. Although, our country is based on free speech, I believe this behavior to abhorrant in view of the sacrifice of human life and sorrow we have seen with the past hours. Let us also show an intolerance for Anti-Americanism on chat at this time.

I heard one small demonstration of support for our Nation was wearing a red/white/blue ribbon and also flying our flag. Somehow, these small things bring me comfort. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

There is so much pain and loss in the world today over this tragedy.
We can pray for all those who were killed, for all those who were wonded, and for all of those who lost someone they love.
And we can pray for this country in the hopes that such a day will never be written into our history books again. To me These terroeist know nothing about our American spirit. They greatly underestimate our strength, resolve, and bravery. We've met disaster, but we've come together in the midst of adversity and found strength through one another.
We refuse to be beaten, bullied,or weakened by terrorists.
And we are far from helpless.
we will stand together through this, and we will heal.We will raise our flag and let it fly high and victorious beneath the stars. And we will emerge stronger than ever before, unified through our pride, our compassion, and our faith in God.

Things here in the "Hub" have been chaotic, but somewhat less so than NYC.
FBI, Boston Police, and SWAT teams swarming a local hotel.
The aiport reportedly going to be closed, even after the others are opened.
Embarassed security officials.
An Amtrak train bound from Boston to DC, stopped in Providence, passengers removed for questioning.

I too have friends in NYC. First available opportunity, attempted to place a phone call and determine the safety of those concerned. A friend of mine has a daughter who works in Lower Manhattan, close enough to see the unfortunate people in the WTC. Badly shaken, but alive and safe.
Also checked on a couple of people from chat, those that I knew who were in the NY area. Fortunate to find out that everyone I know is safe and reasonably sound.
Thoughts and prayers to those who have family and friends not heard from yet.

Chatted with Chaz while he was waiting to hear from his son (near the pentagon during the hit, all well now), have spoken to New Yorkers who are going thru Hell, and have chatted with regulars who have expressed their concerns for the victims and also the future of our Nation.

I found it comforting to be able to chat when I could not sleep, and discovered many chatters, feeling exactly the same way. When a few of us saw NY Cop, we urged him to post here and will do the same if Rock Hard is seen.

Each person deals with crisis in their own way, while some find comfort in quiet retreat, others feel better in sharing their feelings and concerns. I call ppl who bring comfort and reassurance "little angels", and amazingly enough, they can be found everywhere, even on chat

It is a beautiful day here in upstate New York....perfect fall weather at a chilly 42 degrees even though the sun is shining brightly and the skies are a light and clear blue. Still so hard to believe that such devastation is only 150 miles away. Normally at this time of year I'd be decorating my porch with pumpkins and cornstalks and fall mums. But today....there are three American flags flying from the columns on my front porch. Governor Pataki and Sen. Chuck Schumer have urged all New Yorkers to fly their flags....and as I drove home from work yesterday they were everywhere...making me swell with pride and emotion.

I can't help but reflect back on when I first moved to New York...and it was to the city when I first relocated...before eventually ending up near Albany. I was rather taken aback by the seemingly brusque attitudes of the people....the "in your face" demeanors...and the tough exteriors. I was, after all, a Southern girl with Southern manners and not used to that sort of behavior. I learned to deal with it slowly and then one day it dawned on me....New Yorkers simply SAY things...that the rest of us are THINKING. And after only a few years here...I knew that's what I preferred...and that I would never return south again. Now don't get me wrong...I still love the south where my roots and my family are...but I know that New York is "home" now. And I have never in my six years here felt as proud to be a New Yorker as I have this past week.

New York is also a state where you can relocate and never feel like an outsider....because there are so MANY transplants here. So to all the people in New York who have reacted to this tragedy with compassion and dignity...and LOTS of heart...I say a silent prayer...along with a thank you...for allowing me to be one of you.
