Subject: "Choker": a definition for Jimbo
In reply to: Jimbo 's message, "Re: You lose, you choke, it's simple for a non-bomber fan to understand, why can't you grasp it???" on 19:32:37 05/31/00 Wed

CHOKER: Can be generally defined as a team who either:
1. Throws away a big, seemingly unassailable lead to be beaten. Eg, Collingwood last week against Geelong.
2. Appears near invincible throughout the season, at least very impressive, then goes into the finals series and loses. Whether they lose by a point or 50 points this tag can be easily associated with teams that have a more consistent record like that in the finals, eg, in the AFL Western Bulldogs and Essendon, in the NRL Parramatta.
There you go Bimbo, happy now? I will concede that Collingwood definitely fell into this category in the 70's - 80's, but now the Dogs and Bombers have filled the void.
