Subject: Cake Concert Review (don't read this if you like to read things about CDD, this has no relevence)

Hey guys,
Yeah, I know this has close to nothing to do with Candid Daydream, yet I don't care, nor will I care so don't write me any stupid messages. I went to go see Cake last night and I wanted to give my opinions. I heard some of the guys in CDD went to go see them too (that's not why I went for the record, but CDD did get me hooked on Cake because they cover them so well) The opening band for Cake was called Spoon. They had a British Pop sort of feel to them and I was pretty sure the guy was going to have an accent, yet he didn't and they were from Texas. That's when I stopped liking them. The next opener was Rahzel (Grandfather Noise is what I think he called himself) That guy is nuts, he could rap and create his own background hip hop beats at once, my mouth hung open the entirity of his set. That equals a good show. Then Cake came out. I had a bunch of songs I wanted them to play ("Sheep go to Heaven and Goats go to Hell" "Stick Shift and Safety Belts" "Let Me Go" "Daria" ) I forgot the first song they played but I think the second was sheep go to heaven goats go to hell and I was excited, and they played everything I wanted to hear except Let Me Go and Daria. I didn't really feel the love from the crowd which upset me because Cake was doing a good job, but what could I do? I was smushed between 2 extremely tall guys breathing in their sweaty fumes, in front of me was the drunk guy who I always get stuck behind. Every concert I go to there is always a drunk guy in front of my with a large head and an even drunker girlfriend, they get extra points when they spoon the entirity of the concert and if they make-out alot. Sometimes I'm lucky and am so close that I feel like I am involved in the sloppy drunken kiss (which was the case last night) But anyways didn't mean to go off on a tangent. The whole concert was only around 3 and a half hours (opening bands included) but for some reason it felt longer, not sure if that's good or bad. The concert took place on an indoor track and football feild at Cornell and even though I've been to concerts that have been way longer than this one, my feet and legs and back have never hurt so bad. I almost wanted to leave early because I was getting all off balance and tipping into people. Well anyways, the verdict is:Cake did and excellent job, the band is very good and I like them alot. However I give the crowd 2 thumbs down and the facility was terrible (I'm still sore) I was also disappointed I didn't bump into any members of Candid Daydream (Lord knows I tried to set it up) CDD should cover stick shifts and safety belts, that would rock. Sorry to every one who read this and hated it, but it was your own free will to click on my message and I gave you fair warning this had no relevence so oh well...
Love y'all
Laura
