Author: Carol (McCroskey) Johnston
Subject: Memories, ghosts, and problems

Memories: Writing "Aunt Suzie" letters during study hall (only the girls will relate to that one), "Stinky" (Richard) Hogan...who later died in an auto accident...saying, "Hey, you guys, wait up!", Sammy McGee's singing, "I've forgot more than you'll ever know...", Stanley Armstrong (with broken leg) singing, "Come along and be my party doll" to Miss Moore during English class, painting decorations for the dances, having an hour for lunch, feeling safe at school, Bill Thomas' car always found somewhere else, wearing high heels, dressing up to go to movies, crinolin petticoats that required a strong hand to hold them down, Jerry Johnston falling out the window on his head, Casey Tibbs trying to help me with algebra, "Rat" Hawkins erasing hand signals while driving, and so on...could go on and on.

Working for the Springfield Public Schools has afforded me the opportunity to return to both Reed and Central. The kids are dressed differently, but I walk down the halls and see the class of '54/'57. Could it be that I just see the ghosts of students past?

One problem...I have a computer only during school (which means that we're monitored.) When I try to bring up the Parkview Class of '57 website I get, "This site is unavailable". The reason?...personals/dating! Anyone got a suggestion? Since I'm able to get Central's website, I'm wondering what the heck goes on at Parkview? Surely you're not having more fun than we are!
