A number of mysterious circular mud vents have opened up on my land near the river in Ottery. I am very puzzled. They have warm steaming water coming from them and rather unpleasant sulphurous odour. Around the edges I have started to now find some hard blackened grains of what appear to be a sandy material but having had it analised it has been confirmed to be a form of cassiterite (that is Tin Ore) of a very rare from in this area. This is most puzzling.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I found a cubed form of specular hematite from the vitifer complex, in a boulder of typical Vitifer material. The hematite is in cubed form and was found clustered around quartz xl's, in a vugh. The largest being 6 mm across the face. I have never seen this form of hematite before. There is the possibility of the cubes being psuedomorphs, if so after what ? I would be grateful for any feedback, thanks. Greg
