‡ what I mean by artificial intelligence is not to solve problems and complete programming, but to function separately and make their own decisions. the impression I recieved from your droids conversation was that these machines did not have this capacity, and could only complete their programming--albeit, complicated and advanced programming. I suppose an example would be, programming would be ask the machine to fetch the paper, and having the action completed. artificial intelligence would the machine anticipating a need and fetching the paper before being asked, etc., to some extent based on previously imputted information. I guess the difference is whether the machine can function independant of a human, or only complete specific directions. ‡
