Yes, holograms can exist. I have a small paragraph on invisibility holograms in the The Users Guide which you might want to look at.
However, holograms are fairly complicated and take a long time to program, depending upon what they are projecting. The invisibility holograms are fairly simple, because they are made to project scenery.. .and hide movement. If you were to make a moving or human hologram, it would be much more complicated.
At this 'time' in the game's world.. holograms are existant but not very sophisticated yet. No holodecks yet.
What are you thinking of in particular? I may be able to become more specific depending on what you are doing.
