Actually.. have you ever read any of the posts here written by Carter? You should see the posts I wrote before I read some of his/hers.. and then after. His player writes better than any RPG-er and better than many authors I have ever read. So anyway, goes to show how better work influences people. Reading really good books.. all sorts of things make you better.
I started RPGing about four or five years ago.. But you would be suprised.. once you have a reason to do better you just shoot off.

Whatever you do.. don't dress yourself down when it comes to writing. Think -positive-! From what I see of your writing you could easily better that description.. Obviously you have to visualize what you see in order to write.. so.. write exactly what you see. Are you in a metal corridor? Is it dark or light? Are there others in the hall? What sounds do you hear? You can set the mood with description. The echoing clank of boots is kind of ominous, and tells you alot. The chamber is probably large, bare, and metal judging from an echo and 'clank'. Boots signify someone with a purpose,... probably not someone just hanging around. If I wanted them to be sneaky I would use words like.. gentle, quiet, muffled, slow.. etc.
The muffled tap of carefully placed feet..

Gah..Okay..okay..I'm done.
