>because God is love."
Does that mean one who does not love is not saved?
No. Over 150 verses only stipulate a moment of faith alone in Christ alone and you are forever saved. No other requirement.
So what does this mean.
It means that for the moment you are not acting in love you are out of fellowship, i.e., not knowing God.

Just as when you are not acting lovingly toward your wife you are in effect not knowing her in the truest sense,
so in the same way, when you are not acting in love you are not knowing God in His essence either. You may be His child forever, (Jn 1:12; Eph 1:13-14), sealed by the Holy Spirit the moment you trusted alone in Christ alone, but you are a wayward child, completely out of fellowship with your Father and not knowing for the moment Who He really is.

GOT ETERNAL LIFE?

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son [Jesus Christ] that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." [Jn 3:16]

"Whoever believes" = lit., whoever is one who is a believer. i.e., one who expresses a single moment of faith alone in Christ alone being given (on the cross) for you (your sins).

"Should not perish" = one who believes in the Son immediately enters a state of never perishing (completed action verb).

"But have everlasting life" = the believer immediately begins possession (pres. tense verb) of everlasting life, FOREVER - no matter what (since it is everlasting in in duration and depends solely on the promise of God).

FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE UNTO ETERNAL LIFE FOREVER!!!
