Mirino plants herself in one of the dining chairs, "How long will it take do make it?" Nick adds some vegetables and looks at the clock in the living room.
"Maybe a half hour at most. If you don't mind it being a bit blackened I can have it done in half the time?" He smirks again. She lifts her legs and puts her feet on the seat as well. "How'd you go from a waitress to being a police woman?" He says adding a bit of oil to keep the veggies from burning.
"The pay, best salary offered without asking for a college education. But there aren't many other people where I work..." She reaches over her knees and grabs her glass. Mirino tilts her head back and drinks half immediately. Leaning forward again, she grins happily and sticks her tounge out at herself on the glass.
"That's probably because crime pays better you know. They use to have a saying back in the old days, 'Crime doesn't pay.' I guess they couldn't do simple math back then either." He grins again sifting the contents of the pan back and forth. Now over Nicholas's shoulder she looks into the pan.
"I don't get it..." She says in reply to his sense of humor and with a confused look. Nick glances at her then nervously laughs and goes back to frying. Mirino tips her glass back again in an attempt to drink the rest of her sake all at once, but Nick takes her glass away from her before she can finish it.
"I don't want you to be to drunk to not remember the experience." He places the glass on the opposite side of him, much to her discotent.
"What experience?" She looks at him oddly as she glances over at her glass. Nick answers her scratching the back of his head.
"The cooking of course!" he spouts quickly and uneasily as he directs his attention back to the pan.
