Well keeping your charecter from being a super charecter is simple. Make them human. I'll use my charecter as an example. Take a look at Shinto's Profile (Also note that earth is in ruins, i guess some people havent seen all of bebop yet. Also please ignor the spelling and grammer errors), he's a Ninja which if we were going by the standard Hollywood bias an invicible warrior.
Shinto isn't like that hes run away from most of the major fighting. The fighting he did enter into got him hurt. He's gotten hit in both sholders so far and I plan on giving him quite a few more injuries as time goes by.
Always use your charecters skills to judge how they should handel things, for instance if it where Jet Black trying to get to Shayla he would probubly not sneak into her apartment but would have already have her under servalence. He would have come to take her to a safe house instead of out of there and would have before the Syndicate men arived.
Your charecters aproach is important. If your the "Top killer" he's how your not invincible. Sure you may have killed alot of people but contract killers usually kill single targets and with very indiscriminate means (Sniping, Poisen), there's a reason killers for hire are called Assasins.
Make sure there are reasons for what your charecters doing, have some sort of goal. Shinto for example is trying to deal with the syndicate out to kill him, Shayla stumbled across that while wondering on the street (At least one syndicate), then they happened to meet again by chance when they both robbed the same thing because it was "easy money" which turned out to be a trap by the syndicate. As you can see there's some reason behind whats going on.
Just giving out an idea on what I do to try to make things interesting hope you guys who join this board can use them. (ok enough ranting for now)
