Subject: Shame

It’s funny how sometimes pleasure can get so sour that you can taste it as the sky begins to darken upon you
Cacophonious laughter all a sudden converts into a prolonged crescendo of weeps and wails
It goes on and on just like a Wagnerian opera, you leave your finger on the C note for days and days
I see people who can’t stop crying, I can understand the twinkles in their eyes, I think I’m going to bail!

It’s a shame
To see joy fade away
It’s a shame
To see this pain follow us everyday

Every year, I pay a visit to my cousins up in the outskirts of Cape Giradeau
Up on merry old Hickory Hills Drive
In a beautiful wooden log cabin on the top of a hill
Me and Chris would talk about the year
And Jeremy and Nathan would gather near
As we were sitting on the sofa, playing videogames
Their dad works half the day, but their mom is always there to raise them
And they all get along so happily
But last winter, their mom got in an accident, had to go to the hospital, she’s still in big pain
I wonder who’s going to help them when they’re all alone, it makes me feel so sad!

It’s a shame
Seeing these frowns on countless faces
It’s a shame
These images keep me awake

Harvest Lane has long been my home
But I’ve always been alone
No one ever knew me, never liked me, never supported me
Here I stand on this desolate neighborhood
Streetlights burn out all along this eerie corridor
I stand surrounded by sleeping shadows and ebony angels
Is there anyone awake, won’t somebody come and save me?

It’s a shame
To see time go to waste
It’s a shame
Seeing golden memories being erased
It’s a shame to look at your reflection in the mirror
And realize how you grew so fast
And think about all the things you could have done
In which you missed in the past
There might still be time
To try and make a change

You might want to take the time and find out what makes you happy
You might want to take the time and rearrange yourself
You might want to take the time and think about what you’re looking for
You might want to take the time and think who you are
Look deep inside your heart, there is an enchanted garden
Blossoming in eternal bloom
You don’t want to let this garden dry up inside
There is so much gold still shining inside of you
Don’t let shame get you down
Don’t let shame hurt you inside
Think of what makes you happy
DON’T LET THIS SHAME
RUN ON
VERY
