The Maxi was a great boat in its day!

It was the first design of Steve Hemsley, one of Australia's premier players of the 90's.
Incidentally, Steve also designed the Stingray 270, and then the Stingray 290(?) which we know in its plastic form as the Perception Acrobat.

The Maxi is a good boat, and many of NZ's first generation players stuck with it for a long time even though the newer designs you know today started coming through.
But it has been pretty much superceded in every way...
it was designed for all players in short pools - smaller paddlers now have lower volume boats to choose from, and larger paddlers now tend to choose more length for more speed.

The reason that there is no praise for them these days is that it's difficult to find any that is not excessively weighted down by years of repairs.
