I have done this.... Machined the drums etc.. I have stock beetle rims sitting on the car right now because it is getting the clear coat resanded and recleared to fix some scratches etc. Anyways.. I have found that the inner edge of the tire and rim are SOOOOOO close to the "bottoming out cup" thing without the engine being in (not sitting low) that is scares me. I will put up some pics shortly of this.. I will put the links here but give me a couple of days to post them up... I would GREATLY appreciate any suggestions to help with this clearance since I would also like to put sprintstars on. The tranny is a rancho prostreet freeway flyer with an .82 4th gear, short early beetle Heavy Duty axles and type 3 drums. Here are the links. I am not sure how many I will post.. maybe 2 or 3 but I type in 4 links just incase...
