What is the best way to replace rotted out T3 pans without junking the whole floorpan ? As some of you will know the floor ‘halves’ are not actually halves like those on a beetle but in fact the bottom plate of the floorpan is one big panel that goes right across the car.

My options are to do it like you would a beetle and cut either side of the tunnel and leave the original floor bottom plate intact underneath the tunnel........ and weld in the sections from another floorpan leaving a seam either side of the tunnel a-la-beetle

Or otherwise to drill all the spotwelds where the bottom plate attaches to the tunnel......... do the same with a replacement floorpan, and then marry the two up.

Has anyone here done this and how would you recommend.

I would just junk the whole floorpan and replace with another but I have a reg worth 3 grand attached to the floor (and im no ringer dude!!)
