If you want to become alittle more then friends with him , then I think you should tell him that you wanna be best friends with him , but don't tell him that you have a crush on him if you do , because I did that once to this guy that i was the BEST FRIENDS with and I scared him away , so please learn from my mistake , don't make your own , unless you already have , anyways ask him how hw feels and see how he replys , or if your old enough then maybe you can go meet him , become good good friends and see if theres Love , I don't know , it depends on your age :)
