The beginnings of art -may it be literary, theatrical, musical, or visual- stem from the artist's personal beliefs/opinions and emotions, which are evoked by the artist's environment. Shakespeare wrote about his views on certain things that happened (or could happen) in society, such as two people falling in love (Romeo & Juliet) or the potential tyranny of a person with power (Macbeth). The music of the Renaissance and Romantic periods reflect the atmosphere and certain themes in the scores were undoubtedly inspired by life during that time. Subjective writers write about their feelings and emotions, while objective writers deliver facts, without any trace of opinion. Where do the facts come from? Well, it is obvious that history isn't made by fabrication - we record history and take note of things that happen. Maybe if we could foresee the future we could say that life reacts to art, but it is clearly the contrary. Answering to '...do they change what we see through what they depict' - every person sees the world a different way...if you told three different artists to paint what they saw in the same setting, there would most likely be three very different results. It's doubtful that anyone's views are thoroughly altered by art, although they may look at things from more than one viewpoint. As for the second part...
I think it's agreed that there are two types of people: leaders and followers. These two groups can be broken down further into subcategories...
Leaders: Some let their egos inflate their already seemingly enormous heads and decide how to act and treat people based on what, ultimately, the best outcome for themselves will be. The other set of leaders are naturally headstrong, but take others' situations into account. They are not selfish.
Followers: Some mean well and imitate others because they are afraid to be themselves, fearing things like unpopularity. Others follow because they naturally have no ambitions and want to recieve benefits without work. So, really, it depends on which type you are to decide how your character determines your values or vice versa.
Thanks to whoever decided to post an intelligent message, as, obviously, there have been few recently.
