Clinton: Give Iraq the time to disarm

WASHINGTON -- Former President Clinton says he thinks a war with Iraq can be avoided if the United States backs a British resolution giving Iraq more time to disarm."I'm not so sure we can't still avoid war and disarm Saddam Hussein, but we've all got to be together," Clinton said Wednesday at a convention of the Communications Workers of America.

Under the evolving plan, a new U.N. Security Council resolution would give Iraq benchmark disarmament requirements and a deadline for achieving them. -- ASSOCIATED PRESS
